Fox Settles Sex Discrimination Suit, Don't Believe The Hype

According to Variety, via Rawstory, Fox News has settled a discrimination suit filed by the federal government on behalf of four female employees.

The article says Fox settled to avoid the cost of going to trial. I don't buy that. I don't buy that huge companies ever settle suits to avoid the costs of going to trial. That's spin propogated by the tort reform movement.

The truth is companies settle because they know they're likely to lose. Since the case didn't go to trial, we'll never know the exact truth, but the settlement certainly gives strength to the questions about how bad the "bad language" was.
