Lanny Says You're All Just Hatin'

Lanny Davis apparently feels liberal bloggers have been unconscionably harsh with poor old Joe L. Via Raw Story, in a Wall Street Journal column today (And why do all these supposed liberals keep choosing the WSJ as their organ of expression? Why is the WSJ so eager to publish so-called liberals?) , Davis says liberal bloggers are as bad as Ann Coulter and her hero, Joe McCarthy, because they've said mean things about Joe L. This, Davis says, proves liberal bloggers are "intolerant and hateful."

So, according to Davis, when Joe backed up the Bushies in saying that people who criticized the president were undermining the war in Iraq, he was just being as tolerant as a Unitarian bake sale, but when anonymous commenters (not bloggers) on prominent blogs which get thousands of commenters each day criticize Joe, it means liberal bloggers are hateful.

People are pissed, Lanny. Us liberals have been getting beat on by the right-wing and by right-wing enablers like Joe L. and your buds in the DLC for too long. Can we get intemperate? Sure. And if you want to call us on it, feel free. Little hint though -- going to the pages of the WSJ to call us on it, and doing it on the day of a primary election when the guy you're backing is down in the polls smacks a little more of opportunism than it does sincerity.

Also, comparing us to Ann Coulter -- below the belt, dude, below the belt. I haven't seen any liberal blogger say anything as hateful as that.
