Can The Republicans Do One Thing That Doesn't Benefit The Rich?

That's a rhetorical question. We all know they can't. Their most recent political play regarding the minimum wage proves it. Pelosi and Reid have both criticized the bill. Reid's promised to stop it, and I'll say this for Reid, he's delivered on his promises so far. Let's hope he continues to deliver with this.

Of course, the Republicans are hoping to use this to drive working people away from the Democrats come November. The beautiful thing is, they undercut themselves by tying a minimum wage raise to an estate tax cut. We've heard so much about the estate tax over the past six years, and working people so heartily detest attempts to cut it, that there's no way they'll get outraged over Democrats refusing to vote for the bill.

As long as they tie themselves to policies favored by George W. Bush, the Republican Party can do nothing good. The sooner they learn that lesson, the better for the country.
